PASSION PROJECT

This apparel project was designed for streetwear and athletic attire, aiming to raise awareness of the identity struggles faced by Korean Americans. While sharing our culture with the world, the project emphasizes staying connected to our Korean roots and celebrating both individuality and shared heritage.I created custom fonts inspired by Hangul, incorporating them into bold illustrations that maintain a clean aesthetic, avoiding distractions while evoking a fearless and confident mood.

The Tokki Project explores the symbolism of the rabbit as a representation of humanity. I chose the rabbit, or Tokki, to reflect the eight billion people on our planet, drawing a parallel between the rapid reproductive nature of rabbits and the way humans continue to grow in population. The project uses the rabbit as a visual and conceptual metaphor, connecting ideas of abundance, proliferation, and the interconnectedness of life. Through character design, illustration, and storytelling, Tokki becomes a vessel for exploring global human dynamics and our relationship to growth, community, and the natural world.

TYPOGRAPHY

I decorated my logo rings with inspiration from Dancheong, the traditional Korean pattern design often seen in temples and palaces. The vivid colors, layered symmetry, and symbolic motifs of Dancheong reflect balance, protection, and prosperity, which I translated into the circular flow of the rings. To complement this, I designed the font of my logo with inspiration from Korean calligraphy, drawing from its bold brushstrokes and expressive rhythm. The combination of the ornamental Dancheong patterns with calligraphic typography allows the logo to feel both traditional and modern. It bridges cultural heritage with contemporary design. This approach not only celebrates Korean artistry but also gives my identity a timeless, handcrafted character.
