PASSION PROJECT
Jurni is a conceptual project focused on developing an itinerary planning and note-taking app. Designed to streamline and simplify the travel experience, the app helps users stay organized and save time. It showcases planned destinations and travel routes, while also allowing users to share their visited locations with friends and the broader community. Key features include a personal notebook, scheduling calendars, and collaborative subfolders for grouptrip planning.
HOW CAN WE SPEND LESS TIME PLANNING AND MORE TIME TRAVELING?
​Traveling solo or with friends and family often left me juggling multiple group chats, scattered notes, and different apps just to plan one trip. I wanted to design a tool that brings everything together such as a shared calendar, interactive map, and smart route planning. So planning could feel effortless instead of stressful. Jurni was born out of that need: to make trip planning simpler, collaborative, and enjoyable for everyone involved.​​

What makes the app unique is its community driven insight. Recommendations are influenced by modern travel trends, user shared photos, and real reviews. Jurni seamlessly connects to trusted platforms like Yelp or Google Reviews for additional details, but you will not need to spend extra time searching or typing out what you want to see. While platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are filled with travel content, they often require time consuming searches, scrolling, and filtering through posts. Jurni is different. My app eliminates the guesswork by directly providing tailored recommendations, saving travelers valuable time.

SURVEY RESEARCH
​Planning a trip online can be overwhelming due to the sheer volume of information spread across countless sources. Travelers often struggle to combine details like flights, accommodations, and activities into a single, cohesive itinerary. Upon my survey for friends, family and strangers, 96.8% have claimed they spend too much time searching while traveling.​​​​​​

Based on a survey I initiated on Google Form, nearly 90.3% of respondents (28 out of 31 people) said they wish itineraries could be simpler and faster to use. This reflects a clear demand for a more streamlined solution when it comes to travel planning.

Most existing tools don’t make it easy to save, share, or collaborate with others, and finding the right balance between a well-structured plan and spontaneous exploration remains a major challenge. On top of that, unreliable online content, disconnected apps, and the time drain of comparing endless options add more friction to an already complex process. With Jurni, you can instantly see curated lists of nearby attractions, food spots, and experiences, all organized by trend, popularity, and personal preference.
DESIGN PROCESS
I began with rough sketches to map out how users would interact with Jurni. Early drawings focused on simplifying maps and routes, showing how destinations could be organized by proximity. From there, I developed logo sketches and vector icon explorations to capture the brand’s identity which is clean, approachable, and travel oriented. Inspired by the word "journal" and "journey" with a wing to influence traveling.
These sketches evolved into digital wireframes and screen templates, where I refined layout, hierarchy, and interaction patterns. By progressing from hand drawn concepts to polished mockups, I ensured the app stayed user focused while keeping the design system consistent and flexible.

​Jurni is also designed to make group travel easier. The app includes a shared calendar and interactive map where everyone in the group can add locations they want to check out. Routes are automatically organized by nearest locations, so the group does not have to figure out the order on their own.
To keep things simple, Jurni generates a shareable link that can be sent by text message, allowing friends, family, or coworkers to view and follow the same itinerary.Whether you are on vacation or traveling for business, Jurni ensures you can still make the most of your trip by effortlessly discovering great local spots, even in areas you are unfamiliar with.
